Project
Night Vision Goggle System with Extended Depth of Field
Description
The project aims to develop innovative optical add-on elements for night vision goggles used by the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland, which will increase the depth of focus (i.e., the range of distances over which observed objects remain in focus) without modifying the design of the existing devices. The proposed solution will enable simultaneous observation of objects at both near and far distances, eliminating the need for manual focus adjustment and significantly improving user ergonomics and operational effectiveness.
Within the project, prototypes of optical add-ons employing specially designed diffractive structures will be designed, manufactured, and tested. The work will include designing and optimizing optical elements, creating technology demonstrators, and verifying them in field conditions. The proposed innovative approach involves the use of additional diffraction elements mounted directly in front of the lens. This solution enables an effective extension of the depth of field over a selected range of distances behind the lens, while maintaining high image quality within the specified observation ranges. The project outcomes are expected to have a significant impact on the development of night vision systems and may find applications in various fields.
