Project Title: LOT:MIK – Technologies for Aviation: Materials, Innovation, Personnel.

The project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund under Priority I: “European Funds for a More Competitive and Intelligent Mazovia”, Measure 1.1: “Research, Development and Innovation of Enterprises”, Project Type: “Research and Development Infrastructure of Research Units”.

Project Objective: The main objective is to comprehensively strengthen the research and development potential of the Warsaw University of Technology through the expansion, modernization, and integration of scientific infrastructure dedicated to conducting interdisciplinary research in strategic areas: functional materials, sensor technologies, autonomous systems, and integrated power sources.

Tasks and Activities Implemented within the Project:

  • Creation and equipping of two unique laboratories: the Laboratory of Materials and Sensor Technologies in Warsaw and the Laboratory of Aviation and Autonomous Systems in Przasnysz.
  • Purchase of advanced research equipment, including stations for in-operando thin-film battery testing, GD-OES spectrometry, optical mapping, and immersive VR/AR systems for drone operator training.
  • Implementation of a Research Agenda covering the development of solid-state batteries, 2D materials, intelligent biodegradable packaging, and UAV autonomy and flight safety systems.

Target Groups: The project is addressed to the academic community (over 400 researchers and 300 PhD students of the Warsaw University of Technology), as well as the industrial sector, including small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), startups, and high-tech spin-off entities.

Effects and Results of the Project:

  • Increased availability of advanced R&D services for the economy.
  • Shortening the path from research concept to market implementation (achieving Technology Readiness Levels TRL 5-7).
  • Raising the competencies of research personnel in commercialization and cooperation with industry.
  • Creation of an open innovation hub supporting the digital and green transformation of Mazovia.

Project Value: 18,413,100.00 PLN.

Amount of European Funds Contribution (ERDF): 10,479,000.00 PLN.
