Biography

He has been associated with the Warsaw University of Technology for over 20 years - a graduate of the Faculty of Chemistry at the Warsaw University of Technology. He graduated in 2003 in polymer technology after completing a research project under the supervision of Prof. Zbigniew Florjańczyk. He obtained a PhD in Chemistry in 2008, working under the supervision of Prof. Elżbieta Malinowska. He received his postdoctoral degree in 2018. Since 2019, he has been employed as an associate professor.

He was awarded the KEN Medal. Since 2009, he has supervised more than 70 diploma theses. He was a supervisor (or auxiliary supervisor) in three completed PhD theses, currently a supervisor of 3 PhD students. As a part of his didactic activity, he lectures to students of Biotechnology, both in first and second-cycle studies. These lectures cover issues related to electrochemical techniques, bioanalytical methods, sensors, and biosensors. He also teaches PhD students, among others, in the framework of the course on the use of nanomaterials in bioanalytical and theranostics. Leader (or stage manager) of several grants financed by the National Science Center and the National Center for Research and Development.

For almost 2 years, he worked at the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) as a research fellow. He was a laureate of the FNP Start program and a beneficiary of the CSZ scholarship for young scientists. Repeatedly awarded with the Rector of the Warsaw University of Technology award for scientific and didactic achievements. Member of the organizing and scientific committee of several international conferences. Author and co-author of scientific articles, chapters in textbooks and monographs, and papers presented at both Polish and international scientific conferences.

Research areas

He carries out research on biosensors, biotests and chemical sensors (with optical, electrochemical and mass detection), and in particular the development and modification of receptor layers of these devices, as well as studies of their interactions with clinically and environmentally important analytes. His research interests also focus on the synthesis, modification and application of nanomaterials in bioanalytics and theranostics, including primarily the study of the properties of nanozymes, their conjugation with biological receptors and the use of such conjugates in immunoassays and immunosensors. His works concern both basic issues and the application of developed solutions and the use of observed phenomena in the construction of modern bioanalytical tools with a strong emphasis on microfluidic systems manufactured using modern technologies and unique materials.
