ASSISTANT PROFESSOR

INFORMATION ON THE COMPETITION
Rector of the Warsaw University of Technology announces a competition for the position of
ASSISTANT PROFESSOR (POST DOC) (M/F)
in the following employee groups: research field of exact and natural sciences, within the discipline of biotechnology, for the project „Gut-brain synergy: development of an advanced microfluidic model of the microbiota-gut-brain axis to study the mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases” in the Department of Medical Diagnostics at the Centre for Advanced Materials and Technologies CEZAMAT at the Warsaw University of Technology which shall be the primary place of employment as defined by the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science hereinafter referred to as ‘the Law’.
1. Candidates are required:
1) to have completed higher education with a master’s degree or equivalent
2) a PhD degree obtained (preferably no longer than 7 years ago, preferably in exact and natural sciences);
3) Extensive experience in cell culture techniques, including working with induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) or mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), and cell differentiation processes; experience with neural cells will be an additional asset.
4) Proven knowledge of microscopy and molecular biology techniques (such as immunostaining, PCR, RT-qPCR).
5) A publication record in the areas of cell biology, neurobiology, Organ-on-Chip technology, or biosensors will be a significant advantage.
6) Basic knowledge of Organ-on-Chip technology and its potential applications in preclinical research and systems biology.
7) Proficiency in the analysis and interpretation of experimental data, with particular emphasis on drawing biological conclusions.
8) Experience working in cleanroom laboratories will be an additional asset.
9) High precision and manual dexterity in handling delicate biological materials and laboratory equipment.
10) Excellent communication and organizational skills, including the ability to present research results both orally and in writing.
11) Fluent command of English (spoken and written), allowing independent work with scientific literature, writing publications, and active participation in international scientific events.
2. The person applying for the post should satisfy the requirements set forth in the Law on Higher Education and Science and in § 118-121 of the Warsaw University of Technology Statute.
3. Candidates shall submit the following documents:
1) a letter of application to the Vice-Rector for General Affairs
2) a CV
3) copy of the diploma of higher education confirming the obtained master’s degree or an
equivalent degree
4) a certified copy of the PhD diploma
5) a list of research, teaching and organizational output and achievements
6) other documents certifying additional qualifications
7) acknowledgement of WUT as a primary place of employment, as defined in the Act of
Law on Higher Education and Science
8) a declaration on:
a) the full capacity to perform acts in law
b) enjoying full civil rights
c) not being convicted by a valid sentence for an intentional crime or an intentional tax offence
d) no disciplinary penalty as defined in Article 276 section 1 items 7 and 8 of the Law on Higher Education and Science of 20 July 2018 being imposed on them
4. The aforementioned documents shall be submitted from the day of competition announcement 04.02.2026 to 06.03.2026

5. The competition shall be adjudicated until 31.03.2026
6. The Warsaw University of Technology shall reserve the right not to conclude the competition without selecting the candidate and stating the reason.
7. Not informing the candidate about the competition results is equivalent to rejecting their application.
8. Winning the competition shall not guarantee employment.
