Position title: PhD Student – Scholarship Holder
Requirements:
• Master’s degree (or equivalent) in natural sciences or technical sciences, such as biotechnology, chemistry, biology, biomedical engineering, or related fields.
• The recruitment process for the WUT doctoral school completed no later than February 11, 2026,
• Experience in cell culture work.
• Basic knowledge of Organ-on-Chip technology and its applications.
• Ability to analyze and interpret experimental data, with particular emphasis on drawing biological conclusions.
• High precision and manual dexterity required for experimental work.
• Strong communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to present research results.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English to independently work with scientific literature, write publications, and actively participate in international conferences.
Additional preferred competences:
• Experience in differentiating stem cells into neurons.
• Experience in working with microfluidic techniques or sensors.
• Experience working in a clean-room environment.
• Ability to use CAD software.
Description of tasks:
Research tasks:
• Designing and fabricating microfluidic models of the microbiota–gut–brain axis.
• Culturing and differentiating cells, including stem cells.
• Conducting validation and functional tests of the model and analyzing interactions between different cell types.
• Analyzing, interpreting, and reporting experimental data, including preparing documentation and research reports.
• Developing scientific publications and contributing to their preparation for submission.
• Presenting research results at national and international scientific conferences.
• Collaborating with the research team within the project and actively participating in team meetings.
• Preparing a doctoral dissertation: writing a PhD thesis based on results obtained within the project and completing the PhD under the supervision of a member of the research team.

Conditions of employment:
• The PhD student will receive a scholarship under the NCN grant in the amount of 5,000 PLN per month.
• It is possible to obtain an additional scholarship from the Doctoral School in the amount of 3,500 PLN per month.
• Scholarship period: 12 months starting from March 1st 2026 r, with a possible extension up to 36 months.
