Research assistant

Competition for the position of Research assistant 1 (M/F) and Research assistant 2 (M/F)
Two persons will be employed for Project No. FENG.02.01-IP.05-T004/23 titled “Center for Terahertz Research and Applications CENTERA2”. The project is co-financed by the European Union through the European Funds for Smart Economy 2021-2027 (FENG), Competition of the Foundation for Polish Science, Priority 2 Innovation-friendly environment, Measure 2.1 International Research Agendas.
Place, form and conditions of employment:
- part-time employment contract;
- stationary work at the Center for Advanced Materials and Technologies CEZAMAT of Warsaw University of Technology, Poleczki 19 Street, 02-822 Warsaw;
- work on the implementation of the research project entitled “Center for Terahertz Research and Applications CENTERA2”, project number: FENG.02.01-IP.05-T004/23.
Responsibilities and role in the research team:
We offer two part-time positions, each on a half-time basis, PhD student no.1 and no. 2 in Research Team No. 4 (WG4) of the CENTERA2 research unit of the Center for Advanced Materials and Technologies (CEZAMAT) at the Warsaw University of Technology. WG4 (led by PhD Agnieszka Siemion, Professor WUT) conducts research into terahertz optical systems and their components and is responsible for developing and constructing new devices and systems, with the goal of rapid technology transfer and commercialization. CENTERA2 is a project with a proposed research and development programme focused on new advances in terahertz science and technology.
Key responsibilities include:
- simulation, design, and fabrication of THz optical systems;
- collaboration with CENTERA2 team members, as well as with scientists from the Warsaw University of Technology and national and international partner institutions;
- dissemination of research results – scientific publications and conference presentations;
- applications for new research grants.
Requirements:
- an excellent command of English enabling the preparation of scientific publications;
- a research profile consistent with a specialization in physics, electronics, or photonics;
- solid knowledge of solid-state physics, optoelectronics, electronics, or photonics, including the THz radiation range;
- proven research experience in conducting computer simulations and designing optical systems, THz emitters, or detectors.
- proficiency in the PYTHON or other programming environment.
Recruitment process:
- review of application documents by members of the recruitment committee;
- contacting selected candidates and inviting them to a recruitment meeting in person or remotely;
- job interview;
- summary meeting of the recruitment committee;
- announcement of recruitment results will be published on the CEZAMAT website.
If candidates do not meet the requirements we reserve the right not to select any candidate.
The results of the recruitment process are final and cannot be appealed.
The recruitment process is planned for October/November 2026.

- copy of the diploma of higher education confirming the obtained master’s degree or an equivalent degree;
- a list of research, teaching and organizational output and achievements;
- other documents certifying additional qualifications;
- a declaration on:
- the full capacity to perform acts in law;
- enjoying full civil rights;
- not being convicted by a valid sentence for an intentional crime or an intentional tax offence;
- no disciplinary penalty as defined in Article 276 section 1 items 7 and 8 of the Law on Higher Education and Science of 20 July 2018 being imposed on them.
