The project is co-financed by the European Union under the European Funds for a Modern Economy 2021–2027 (FENG) program, Priority 5: Support for projects implementing the goals of the STEP initiative, Call FENG.05.01-IP.01-001/25 – Path A: Projects implemented in the biotechnology sector.
Project No.: FENG.05.01-IP.01-0009/25
Project description
The main objective of the project is to develop an innovative diagnostic technology utilizing functionalized magnetocatalytic nanoparticles within microfluidic systems designed for the rapid determination of medical biomarkers.
The developed nanoparticles will be integrated into disposable lab-on-foil microanalytical cartridges and digital microfluidics (DMF) systems.
The project will result in a technology enabling rapid, sensitive, and low-cost biomarker diagnostics in biological samples—such as blood, saliva, or urine—including settings outside of traditional diagnostic laboratories.
Target groups
The target groups for the developed solutions include medical professionals, diagnostic laboratories, and entities within the public and private healthcare systems. Manufacturers of in vitro diagnostic systems and Point-of-Care devices will also be able to utilize the project’s results.
Implementation stages:
- development and validation of functionalized magnetocatalytic nanoparticles,
- development of disposable lab-on-foil microfluidic cartridges and digital microfluidics systems,
- development of readers and analytical software, as well as integration and validation of the diagnostic system.
